In the race to feed a growing world population effectively as well as develop environmentally sustainable crop protection solutions, messenger RNA technology – the basis for many successful Covid vaccines – looks particularly promising. Applications can eventually extend to biological solutions for other zoonotic diseases, but also chronic and genetic illnesses.

Listen to this podcast with Ulrik Fugmann and Edward Lees, co-heads of our Environmental Strategies Group, and Andrey Zarur, CEO and co-founder of GreenLight Biosciences. They discuss how tailored mRNA molecules can work as safe, effective and specific tools to control pests, while preserving biodiversity and pollinators and keeping large amounts of food from spoiling as a result of fungus infestation (currently, this causes 40% of food waste).
