Our emerging market investment teams are situated in around fifteen countries, most of them emerging, and have been assigned to BNP Paribas Asset Management subsidiaries or joint ventures resulting from partnerships with local financial institutions.
The unification of these teams within a single entity (Emerging Markets Investments) has enabled us to build up considerable expertise in terms of geographic coverage and the investment solutions we can offer.
Our organisation reflects our philosophy, which involves delegating as much responsibility for "country" fund management (e.g. the “BRIC” countries, South Korea, Indonesia) as possible to our on-the-ground teams who are in direct contact with their markets. A few regional centres (e.g. Paris, London, Boston, Hong Kong) are responsible for synthesising this information as part of regional and global fund management.
The remarkable complementarity between BNPP IP and FI has enabled us to consolidate our presence in emerging markets and broaden the range of products and services available to investors. Today, BNPP IP is recognised as one of the world leaders in emerging market investment management in terms of assets under management and our number of management centres.
Emerging Markets Investments incorporates approximately 200 managers and analysts responsible for EUR 80 billion of assets in money market, bond and equity funds in the emerging countries of Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Our strength relies on experienced and sufficiently large teams that are able to identify local investment opportunities and risks while maintaining an efficient horizontal approach when it comes to macroeconomic analysis, management processes and risk management thanks to the BNPP AM teams.
This allows us to exchange knowledge and combine expertise between our central and local teams and ensure consistent management, all the while granting a high degree of autonomy to our local teams.
